The two officers, aged 32 and 29, were on patrol when they attempted to stop a speeding car along Victoria Street. The male driver initially refused to comply with their request, providing only his NRIC and not his driving license. Eventually, he pulled over near the junction of North Bridge Road and Jalan Sultan.

However, the situation took a dangerous turn when the man suddenly fled on foot, leaving behind a bag containing a samurai sword and other weapons. He allegedly took out a stun device and used it to tase the officers repeatedly, causing injuries. Despite their injuries, the officers managed to subdue the man with the assistance of a passer-by, a 22-year-old off-duty national serviceman.

The seized items included a samurai sword, knuckle dusters, a chopper, a dagger, and various drug-related paraphernalia. The man was found in possession of controlled drugs, including 236g of Ice, 11g of heroin, 56 Erimin-5 tablets, and two Ecstasy tablets.

The 32-year-old officer, Staff Sergeant Khairulanwar Bin Abd Kahar, sustained back injuries but has since been discharged with medical leave. The arrested man faces multiple charges, including voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from discharging his duty, possession of offensive and scheduled weapons, drug trafficking, and driving under the influence of drugs. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty.
