Bank of Maldives Announces Two Recipients of BML Startup Grant

The Bank of Maldives (BML) is thrilled to announce the two deserving recipients of this year's coveted BML Startup Grant. The grant, which provides a generous sum of Rs 500,000 in free assistance, is dedicated to nurturing the dreams of emerging entrepreneurs and enabling them to establish or expand their businesses in the Maldives.


This year, the selection process was exceptionally competitive, reflecting the growing entrepreneurial spirit in the Maldives. After meticulous evaluation in two distinct phases, the BML Startup Grant winners were chosen.


Aminath Hameed - Maldivian Patissia: Aminath Hameed's vision for "Maldivian Patissia" is set to tantalize taste buds across the Maldives. Her business aims to establish a bakery renowned for offering a delightful array of high-quality bakes and pastries. With the BML Startup Grant, Aminath is now one step closer to turning her sweet dream into a reality.


Sanfa Nazahath Ahmed - Naza Health: "Naza Health," initiated by Sanfa Nazahath Ahmed, is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of the community. Her business specializes in providing physical rehabilitation services in Lhaviyani Naifaru, ensuring that individuals receive the necessary care and support to regain their health and vitality. With the BML grant, Sanfa is now poised to make a significant impact on the health and wellness of the local population.


The evaluation process was rigorous, beginning with the assessment of business plans submitted by numerous talented candidates. After the first phase, the top 10 candidates were shortlisted, marking the cream of entrepreneurial talent in the Maldives. In the second phase, these shortlisted candidates presented their business proposals to the evaluation committee.


BML's CEO and Managing Director, Karl Stumke, expressed the bank's immense pride in providing vital assistance to these budding businesses. He emphasized the bank's commitment to fostering positive changes in society and creating new opportunities through the support and growth of these entrepreneurial ventures.


As the winners embark on their entrepreneurial journeys, the Bank of Maldives remains dedicated to championing local talent and driving economic growth within the Maldives. The BML Startup Grant is just one of the many initiatives by the bank to encourage innovation, empower entrepreneurs, and contribute to the flourishing entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Maldives.
